Mushroom Coffee Boosts This Dog Mom’s Brain Power & Creativity

From Podcast To Mushroom Coffee
One of my favorite daily routines is listening to podcasts while Iโm out walking my client pups and driving back and forth between them.
Some of those shows are about blogging how toโs and branding. Others deal with entrepreneurial journeys, leadership lessons as well as tips and tricks to make the best out of every day.
Tim Ferriss (The Tim Ferriss Show), Pat Flynn (Smart Passive Income Podcast), Andrew Warner (Mixergy), Jocko Willink (Jocko Podcast), & Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) are just some of the podcast hosts whose voices Iโve become super familiar with.
Iโve been learning massive lessons from all of them. Today, I want to share one of my newfound health hacks with you all โ brain boosting Mushroom Coffee created by Finnish entrepreneurs Four Sigmatic.
Theyโre one of Tim Ferrissโ sponsors that I kept hearing about several times per week for about 6 months. That’s how long it took me finally pull the trigger and place my first order with them.
Iโve been ordering from them for 5 months now and the only regret I have is that I didnโt buy their delicious concoction sooner.
By the way, in case you want to put a face to Tim Ferrissโ name, he talks about his favorite โsmart drugsโ in the video below. The Mushroom coffee is the second one he mentions.
The 4 Ingredients in Four Sigmatic’s Mushroom Coffee
Mushroom coffee is a mix of the following 3 ground mushrooms and organic arabica instant coffee (50mg per serving):
- Lionโs Mane (250mg per serving)
- Chaga (250mg per serving)
- Rhodiola Root (100 mg per serving)
The arabica coffee is organically grown in the volcanic soil of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas highlands in Mexico.
The rhodiola roots are wild-harvested from the mountains of Tibet and then extracted.
The website doesnโt say where the Chaga & Lionโs Mane are from, so Iโm going to assume theyโre grown in the US. It does say that theyโre organically grown.

What Are The Benefits of Mushroom Coffee?
The Mushroom Coffee comes with a ton of health benefits:
- Coffee itself is a great antioxidant, but you probably already knew that.
- Chaga lowers acidity & boosts the immune system.
- Lionโs mane boosts brain function & creativity.
- Rhodiola root is an adaptogenic herb that increases resistance to stress & also boosts brain function.
Adaptogens are herbs that help the body adopt to stress, both physically and emotionally. Iโve definitely noticed that Iโve become more stress resistant since drinking the mushroom coffee and also more mellow in general. I can also attest to the cognitive enhancement.
It really does give my brain a boost when I need to deliver, both physically when I juggle my client pups and also mentally when Iโm blogging or taking care of admin tasks.
What Does Mushroom Coffee Taste Like?
Delicious is what it tastes like!!
I recently ran out of the mushroom coffee and had to go without it for a few days and BOY! Did I miss that yummy concoction.
On a more serious note, it has a fruity flavor and is mild and smooth. Itโs a lot less acidic than regular coffee and definitely does not taste like mushroom at all.
The beautiful side effect for me is that I no longer get any jitters from drinking too much coffee and I’m also no longer bothered by acid reflux. Love it!
How To Make The Coffee
Four Sigmatic’s Mushroom Coffee is super easy to make โ all you need is hot water.
Just pour it over a small spoonful of the mushroom coffee, stir, and thatโs it. I like to add a little almond milk, but it also tastes great as is.

I typically have 2 or 3 cups of it per day.
Four Sigmatic suggests drinking it โwhenever your brain needs an energizing get-it-together hug.โ
Update 2023: Yep, I’m still loving Four Sigmatic’s Instant Mushroom Coffee! It’s now also available as ground coffee for pour overs!
Any Cons?
The only con I can come up with is the mushroom coffeeโs price point.
10 single packets are $15, but there is the option of saving 20% on every single order if you set up a subscription.
Itโs what I ended up doing after I tried a monthโs worth of the single packets.
I now get the mushroom coffee delivered in a tin every 6 weeks, which costs me $32 (regular price is $40).

Mushroom Coffee Boosts This Dog Mom’s Brain Power & Creativity: Bottom Line
The mushroom coffee isnโt the least expensive coffee out there, but I consider it an investment in my own health.
Iโve become a lot more conscientious of what makes it into my body ever since I incorporated a variety of lifestyle changes after my beloved puppy Missy was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2014.
I figured that the less processed food approach and use of smart drugs (Iโm thinking turmeric paste, raw goat milk, green lipped mussels) would not only benefit her (& her brother Buzz), but also me.
I love that this coffee falls into the โsmart drugโ category and that it acts as a cognitive booster while cutting out the jitters & acidity of my former coffee drinking habits. CHECK!
Enthusiastically recommended! Do yourself a favor and try it!
