How To Make Refreshing Raw Goat Milk Treats

Are you ready to whip up some refreshing raw goat milk treats for your dogs?

They’re SO easy to make and a hit with my pups Missy & Buzz!

The Benefits Of Raw Goat Milk For Dogs

The reason why I started adding raw goat milk to the pupsโ€™ menu was because itโ€™s also known as โ€œuniversal milkโ€.

That means it’s digestible by most mammals and comes with a ton of health benefits.

Unlike cow milk, itโ€™s much lower in lactose.

Besides being easily digestible, it also relieves joint pain and destroys yeast.

As such, it helps tremendously in dealing with arthritis related symptoms, fighting off allergies and yeast infections.

Buzz used to get yeast infections in his ears back in our kibble feeding days.

Now that he eats raw dog food, heโ€™s no longer bothered by them.

What’s in raw goat milk for dogs?

Here’s what’s in raw goat milk:

  • Protein
  • Fatty acids (omega 3 & 6)
  • Vitamins (A, B 2, C, & D)
  • Minerals/electrolytes/trace elements (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, copper & zinc)

All of these make it a superb natural probiotic!

Now back to the frozen dog treats!

I used a quart of raw goat milk, filled a few fun silicone molds with it, and then transferred them into the freezer.

That’s it!

Once they’re frozen, they make the perfect treat for a hot summerโ€™s day.

Itโ€™s been crazy hot here in NC lately with temps in the upper 90s that felt like in the 100s, meaning the pups were very grateful for their frozen dog treats.

How Much Raw Goat Milk Can Dogs Have?

Dogs can have a certain amount of raw goat milk based on their weight:

  • Under 20 lbs = 2 ounces
  • Between 20-40 lbs = 4 ounces
  • Between 40-60 lbs = 6 ounces
  • From 60-80 lbs  = 8 ounces
  • Over 80 lbs = 10 ounces

Since Missy weighs a little over 50 lbs, she can have 6 daily ounces of raw goat milk.

Buzz can have a little more since he weighs a little over 70 lbs, which translates into 8 daily ounces.

Steve’s Real Food

You can’t get raw goat MILK from Steve’s Real Food, but they do sell CannaGurt.

That’s a raw goat milk YOGURT base with added hemp oil. It’s not quite the same, but it sounds intriguing, too!

Fun fact: I actually picked up a can of evaporated goat milk at Walmart the other week, but of course that kind is far from the raw deal.

Iโ€™m not even sure yet what Iโ€™ll use it for, lol!

I guess I was so surprised to see that Walmart carries any kind of goat milk that I just had to put it into my shopping cart.

Raw Goat Milk For Dogs: Bottom Line

Raw goat milk is known as one of the most complete, natural foods. As such, it’s an easily digestible source of probiotics for dogs (& cats as well).

Both pups really love it, regardless of whether I add it to their meals or offer it as a treat.

I make frozen goat milk treats too! I need to get some silicone molds, I think they would be easier to use.

Cool to hear that you make them for your guys too! Yes, the silicone molds are a lot easier to pop the treats out of than a regular ice cube tray. I tried both and had the hardest time getting the raw goat milk treats to come out of the tray.
