Testicles for raw dog food, anyone?
They’re definitely not your first choice of organs for raw dog food meal prep, but an oh so nutritious one.
It’s particularly great for stud dogs, growing puppies and neutered males (glandular therapy approach).
In raw feeding circles, testicles are often referred to as “testes”.
They’re also known as “fries” and “Rocky Mountain Oysters”.

Nutrients In Raw Testicles for Dogs
Raw (secreting) organs such as testicles are known as Mother Nature’s multivitamins.
They’re very rich in B vitamins, especially in the water soluble Vitamin B12.
B12 supports the blood flow and the nervous system as well as the brain and digestive functions!
I found a great nutrient profile of raw lamb testicles. Here’s what’s in 100 grams = 3 oz:
Vitamins:
- Vitamin A: 10.00 mcg
- B1 (Thiamin): 0.315 mg
- B2 (Riboflavin): 0.214 mg
- B3 (Niacin): 1.744 mg
- B5 (Pantothenic acid): 0.872 mg
- B6: 0.033 mg
- B12 (Cobalamin): 9.89 mcg
- Vitamin E: 0.31 mg
There’s no B9 (Folate) in testicles – you’ll find that in raw hearts!
Minerals:
- Calcium: 5.00 mg
- Copper: 0.09 mg
- Iron: 1.14 mg
- Magnesium: 11.00 mg
- Manganese: 0.029 mg
- Phosphorus: 179.00 mg
- Potassium: 265.00 mg
- Selenium: 26.20 mcg
- Sodium: 119.00 mg
- Zinc: 1.14 mg

How To Feed Your Dog Testicles
As far as feeding your dog testicles, there’s three ways you can go about it.
(1) Use as a second secreting organ besides liver for raw dog food meal prep
They’re not really messy or leaky when you slice them up, but I found that their specific consistency makes them easiest to cut when they’re still partially frozen.
I used the following ingredients in the homemade raw meal featured in the picture below:
- Chunked rabbit (raw meaty bone)
- Beef green tripe (muscle meat)
- Ground pork (muscle meat)
- Herring (fish, I count as muscle meat)
- Beef liver (1st secreting organ)
- Beef pancreas (other secreting organ)
- Beef testicle (other secreting organ)
- Plant matter smorgasbord

(2) Feed as a raw in-between snack
If you feed pre-made raw dog food, you can still add some odd cuts of meat here and there.
You won’t find too many commercial recipes that include testes, so treat your pup to a nice little nutrient boost courtesy of raw testicles!
According to my pup Wally, they’re extra delicious – you can see his enthusiasm for this particular cut of meat in the video below.
He always gets a little taste-test of whatever I cut up for meal prep.
(3) Dehydrate as treats
Another option is to dehydrate thin slices or cuts of testicles. They’ll make a great high value reward or training treat.
All you need is a dehydrator and some time, a cutting board and a knife, and of course raw testicles.
How Much Raw Testes Can Dogs Have Per Week?
Testicles fall into the other secreting organ category besides liver.
That means you can feed your adult dog 5% in testicles of their daily raw dog food allowance.
Puppies need 7% of each.
To make planning easier for your raw dog food meal prep, I did the math on how much raw testicles adult dogs can have per week if they’re fed at an average 2.5% maintenance percentage:

This bull testicle weighed 14.5 oz. That means it’ll last my 38 lb pup Wally about 2.5 weeks.

Where To Buy Raw Testicles for Dogs In The US
While your local supermarket probably won't carry testicles, you may get lucky at an ethnic/Asian grocery store. They're known to carry odd cuts of meat, so take a look!
You may also get lucky at a butcher's, Farmer's Market or meat processor.

Testicles for Raw Dog Food: Bottom Line
Raw testicles are a super nutritious organ rich in B vitamins that's classified as a secreting organ in raw feeding.
So when you make homemade raw dog food for adult dogs, you'll be adding 5% in liver and 5% in other secreting organs - such as testicles - of your dog's daily raw dog food allowance. For puppies, it's 6% of each.
As most secreting organs, testicles are a little harder to source.
But there's a few online options if you don't have any butchers, meat processors or ethnic grocery stores that carry them.
