Those of you who’ve followed me for a while know that I’m super picky when it comes to my dogs’ gear & accessories. I want both to be durable and practical, yet visually appealing. It’s for that exact reason that I only used select harnesses, collars, and leashes from 2 different companies for quite some time. #DogGearSnob
This was the case until 2017 when fellow dog blogger Lindsay from ThatMutt.com broadened my doggie gear horizon and introduced me to a new company that set up shop in the dog gear niche – Mighty Paw.
Since then, I’ve added some of their durable collars, leashes, and a few select accessories to Missy’s (RIP) & Buzz’s doggie gear selection as well as to my professional dog walking equipment.

But first things first – let’s go ahead and check out Mighty Paw’s dual handle leash and poop bag holder, both of which I recently tested while walking/engaging with my client dogs.
Dual Handle Dog Leash
The dual handle dog leash comes in 2 color choices – grey/lime & black/orange. I personally decided to go with grey/lime.
It’s an effective means of gaining reliable control over your dog in a variety of situations:
- When you’re crossing a busy road
- When you’re on a narrow hiking trail with oncoming human and/or K9 traffic
- When you’re at the vet’s
- When you’re working on polite leash manners/door manners/a solid recall
- When your dog is over-reacting to a certain stimulus such as other dogs, pets, wild-life, or people
Features:
- 2 Padded Handles
- Weatherproof Nylon
- Durable Hardware
- Reflective Stitching On Both Sides
- 6 Foot Long
- 1″ Wide/2 mm Thick

The dual handle dog leash also comes in black with orange

I checked in with the owners of one of my daily dog walking clients, handsome and strong GSD pup Stanley, about testing the leash on him. They were on board and told me that they had actually been looking for a shorter leash when taking Stanley to more populated places.

Walking GSD Stanley On Mighty Paw's Dual Handle Leash

I will say that Stanley is fairly well-behaved overall, but every now & then he gets a little reactive when spotting other dogs. There’s one particular pup in his neighborhood whose house we come by every time we go on a walk. It’s a Great Dane who’s staked out in the front yard every now & then and turns into a lunging beast of sorts whenever he sees us walk by. I can’t say that I blame him since he doesn’t get the right outlet for his energy and his owners obviously misuse the stakeout chain, but that’s a topic for another day.
What I usually do is I shorten Stanley’s 6 ft leather leash to keep him from acting up and quickly but calmly walk by the Great Dane’s house without paying too much attention to the Dane.
All I had to do when walking Stanley past the beast’s house on the dual handle leash was to grab the second handle closest to his head with my left hand, and hold the main handle in my right hand. I felt 100% in control, Stanley didn’t act up, and I was pleasantly surprised at how soft the padded handles felt on my hands!

This is also how we walked along a fairly busy street, and it was super effective in keeping him in a heeling position right next to me.
Stanley will be getting a Mighty Paw dual handle leash after I shared the video with his humans 🙂
Bonus: The dual handle leash comes with a free leash wall hook & a link to a 20% off coupon.

The leash is currently on sale for $15.99; regular retail price is $27.99.
P.S. I already have their short traffic handle dog leash (retails for $13.99), which is essentially just a super short leash. I’ve used it for trips to the vet and it’s worked out wonderfully!

Poop Bag Holder
The second new product I got to test was Mighty Paw’s poop bag holder. It also comes in grey/lime and black/orange, and I decided to stick with the grey/lime color scheme.
Features:
- Zippered Pouch
- 2 Velcro Straps
- Easy Access Slot
- Weatherproof Material
- Durable Hardware
- Spacious Interior
This was my first time in 6 years using a soft poop bag holder as opposed to a hard-shell dispenser, and I absolutely love it. It’s spacious enough on the inside to hold an additional roll of poop bags and a lip balm. You could even fit a key in there and a few small training treats.
Mighty Paw's Poop Bag Holder

Back when I kept my hard-shell poop bag dispenser attached to the cross-body purse I’m walking client dogs with, the motion of walking would oftentimes loosen the cap and cause the roll of poop bags to unroll. Really annoying. It would also make this clanking sound when it hit my purse with every step I took. I will say that I got used to that one, but not hearing the “clank” with the new soft poop bag holder has been a nice treat!

The poop bag holder clipped to my cross-body purse

I like that it can either be attached to a leash using its velcro straps, or be clipped to any loop opening you might be walking with (think purse, backpack, or belt loop on your clothing). I found that I personally prefer to clip it to my cross body purse. I did test the option of attaching it to Mighty Paw’s dual handle leash, and while it stayed attached to the leash, it didn’t stay in place regardless of how tight I pulled the velcro straps, which didn’t end up working for me.

Bonus: The poop bag holder comes with 1 free roll of poop bags. As of now, the company is still including a cheaper, thin roll of poop bags, but will soon upgrade to including a free roll of their new, sturdy poop bags (those are of top notch quality, I’ve tested them).

The poop bag holder is currently on sale for $13.99; regular retail price is $19.99.
Both Pair Well With The Mighty Paw Treat Pouch
To complete the dog walking look, the dual handle leash and the poop bag holder work great with Mighty Paw’s treat pouch.
I’ve been calling it the Ferrari of dog treat pouches because it truly stands out from all other treat bags, and I’ve used a few different ones over the years. I’ve had this particular pouch for exactly one year and have written about it in detail on the blog before:

Wearing Mighty Paw's Treat Pouch On A Walk With My Late Pup Missy (RIP)

Thank you, Lindsay from @thatmuttcom, for introducing me to this awesome dog treat pouch from @mightypawdogs ??It’s without the shadow of a doubt the best one I’ve ever had – 7 inches tall, sturdy, exterior pocket that holds my iphone 6, built-in ?poop bag dispenser, belt & carabiner that holds keys. ? It’s great for doggie training sessions both inside as well as on walks or hikes.
The following video features the pouch, my late pup Missy, Buzz & myself when playing hide & seek throughout the house on a hot day in 2017. The video was taken on my old phone I was having microphone issues with, so please excuse the moments of silence here & there 😉
Just like the poop bag holder, it also comes with 1 free roll of poop bags.
The treat pouch is currently on sale for $17.99; regular retail price is $24.99.
